Working with Shawn on the "We Keep Us Safe" project was a privilege. It was a privilege because Shawn is a passionate filmmaker who understands that her work is deeply personal and is nourished by her communities and connections. Helping create work that is strongly rooted in these intentions and commitments is a precious opportunity.

I first worked with Shawn on her documentary, Changing Face of Harlem, and it was a wonderful collaborative experience where we exchanged ideas freely and worked together to create a great film. After post-production, I was impressed by Shawn's tireless work in promoting and getting the word out about the film. Shawn is a fantastic filmmaker, and not only did I enjoy working with her, but I also have excitedly followed her work as she has continued to make films about interesting people and topics.
